Do you have a God-first family? This family makes God’s will the focal point of all they do. They place God at the center of their marriage and parenting.

A God-first family is the produce of planting and cultivating good seeds in the family. This family is capable is important to so many different kinds of people.

It impacts our children.

  • When God is first in the family, the children are provided with the best opportunity to become servants of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
  • The God-first family creates a culture of love and respect for God’s word in the home (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). They constantly read, study, and discuss the application of Scripture. Doing this will impact our children in powerful ways.
  • It will impact children’s character. It will help them develop godly character.
  • It will impact their priorities. It will instill in them the need to always put God first (Matthew 6:33).
  • It will impact how they view Christianity. They will understand that serving Jesus goes beyond just going to church on Sunday!
  • It will impact their faith (even if they lose it). While there is no way to guarantee the faithfulness of our children, we can plant roots within them that they may return to if they fall away (Proverbs 22:6).

It impacts the local church.

  • God-first families can be involved in evangelism (Acts 2:41; 4:4; 8:4).
  • God-first families can encourage messengers of God (Acts 21:4-6).
  • God-first families can practice hospitality (Acts 21:7-10).
  • God-first families can help a church maintain qualified godly leadership (Acts 14:23; 1 Timothy 3:1-12; Titus 1:5-9).

It impacts the world.

  • Noah and his family impacted the world in which they lived (Hebrews 11:7).
  • The faithful Christian families being persecuted and forced out of Jerusalem would have stood out in their society (Acts 8:4).
  • We also can have a powerful impact on the world (Matthew 5:16). The world notices when we are kind, loving, evangelistic, committed, and bold about our faith.

It impacts our God.

  • God created the family relationship (Genesis 2:24).
  • God was pleased with Abraham’s determination to put Him first in his life and family (Genesis 18:19). This was part of why Abraham received great promises.
  • God takes notice of families that put Him first. He blesses and uses them to accomplish amazing things for His glory.
  • While we don’t have perfect families, we can honor God by putting Him first in our families.
