What would you do if Judgment Day occurred before 2022 ended? What would you do if Judgment Day occurred on this day?

Would you be ready to stand before the Lord? Would you be prepared to see His face? Would you be ready to hear Him announce your eternal destiny?

The subject of Judgment Day is not one that many people are eager to hear sermons about, but it is critically important. This day is coming, and there are going to be many shocked people who stand before the Lord. Who are some of the people who will be shocked on this day?

The Unbelievers

  • The unbelievers refuse to believe in God and Jesus as the Messiah (John 19:19-22; Acts 4:15-17). On Judgment Day, these people will learn that they were wrong for not believing in the Lord!
  • These are also those who don’t believe in the real Jesus. The people who invent a Jesus from their minds.
  • Many Jews rejected Jesus because He was not the Messiah they envisioned (John 1:11).
  • Likewise, on Judgement Day, many will be shocked to learn that Jesus is also a Lord of judgment and demands careful obedience to His word (John 12:48).

Good People

  • Many folks believe that all “good” people will go to heaven. These people who give to charities are kind and don’t steal, kill, rape, cheat on their spouses, or sell drugs.
  • Some even believe in a scale of balance. They believe their good deeds must outweigh their bad deeds.
  • The Bible requires us to do good deeds (Revelation 21:12-13; Matthew 25:31-36). But we can’t expect good deeds to earn salvation.
  • No matter how much good we do, we are still sinners who need to be washed by the blood of Jesus (Romans 3, 9; Acts 10:1-2; 11:12-14; 1 Peter 1:18-19).
  • When people trust in their own “goodness” for salvation, they minimize sin and the death of Jesus!

Religious People

  • In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus describes religious believers who are lost. They may have acknowledged Jesus as “Lord” and done many religious things, but they were lost because of acts of “lawlessness.” They did not do the will of the Father.
  • Paul understood that he could be lost if he did not spiritually discipline himself and practice genuine discipleship (1 Corinthians 9:27).
  • Christians who fail to do the Father’s will live double lives. They appear to live good lives before others but secretly practice horrible sins.
  • On Judgment Day, many Christians will be shocked to learn that discipleship involves more than going to church on Sunday.

Conclusion:

Let us seek to truly know and walk with God so we can have confidence when we stand before the Lord (2 Timothy 4:6-8; 1 John 4:16-17).
