What will it be like to be in heaven? Some think it will have pearly gates. Some believe it will have angels playing harps and blowing trumpets.

The Bible doesn’t answer all of the trivial questions we have about heaven. It does provide us with clear facts about its glory and why we should want to be there.

The Bible does tell us that being in heaven is going to be great! Why?

It is where God lives.

  • This is the top thing that makes heaven great! See Psalm 11:4; 115:3; Matthew 6:9; Acts 7:54-56.
  • In heaven, we will be in the perfect presence of God. We will be living with God in His house (John 14:1-3). We will be able to worship in His perfect presence (Revelation 4-5).
  • We will regain what was lost in the Garden of Eden (Revelation 22:1-3).

It is where there is no wickedness.

  • We live in a wicked world. But heaven is going to be different.
  • There will be no Satan in heaven (Revelation 20:10).
  • There will be a new order (2 Peter 3:10-13).
  • Heaven is a place where “righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:13).

It is where we will receive our reward.

  • Heaven is the reward and inheritance of God’s children (Matthew 5:11-12; 1 Peter 1:3-5)
  • Heaven is a place of rest (Revelation 14:13; Hebrews 4:1, 9-11).
  • Heaven is a place of glory (Romans 8:16-17).
  • In heaven, we will have incorruptible bodies (Philippians 3:21; 1 Corinthians 15:50-53).
  • Heaven is our real home (2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 3:20).

It is where we will be forever!

  • The blessings of heaven last forever (Matthew 25:46).
  • There, we will always be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:15-18).

What will we do if we want to go to heaven?

  • We will set our “treasures” there (Matthew 6:19-21).
  • We will think about it all the time (Colossians 3:2).
  • We will do the will of God (Matthew 7:21-23).

Conclusion:

God offers heaven to all of those who are willing to come to Him!
