2 Peter 2
- False teachers are real (2 Peter 2:1-3). They will eventually receive judgment from God.
- God has a history of bringing judgment on the wicked (2 Peter 2:4-9).
- Peter describes the behavior of those men in 2 Peter 2:10-19.
- Those Christians who are deceived by false teachers are worse off than before (2 Peter 2:20-22).
2 Peter 3
- Peter warns against mockers in the “last days” (2 Peter 3:1-4).
- These mockers will one day be made to look foolish (2 Peter 3:5-9). The Lord will return and the world will be destroyed by fire!
- The coming “day of the Lord” should motivate us to live a certain way (2 Peter 3:10-14). Paul wrote many things that are hard to understand (2 Peter 3:15-16). The unstable and untaught distort his writings and the rest of the scriptures.
- The book ends with the same admonition is begins with. Christians need to grow (2 Peter 3:17-18)! Christians that don’t grow, eventually die!
